A TRUE MIRACLE

It was on November 3rd in Detroit that Officer Jennifer was on duty. She had gotten a phone call from a neighbor. "There's a fire next door and some teenager's running from the house". The officer went to the house hearing screams and the whimpering. She thought it was a child but then realized it was a litter of 8 week old puppies. Their tiny arms and legs tied and ther innocent bodies set on fire. The house on fire too.

The terror and pain they endured in their short fragile lives... one tiny little girl we all now call "Miracle" struggled for her life. Officer Jenny held her in her arms making two stops to organizations that to her surprise and disappointment would turn Miracle away. Jenny took Miracle home that night and Sunday morning she brought Miracle to us. "ALMOST HOME ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE" We took her with open arms.

Leonard and Lee rushed her to Oakland Emergency where I met them she was covered with burns and she was lethargic. Her fraile little body limp and listless her eyes so soft and innocent. Almost Home took financial responsibility knowing the costs would be astronomical. It wasn't about "money" it was about "life".The hospital was so kind and called the media in to try to help and the response has been wonderful. Christopher from the Tear Foundation helped too. We all worked together the way it should be. It takes a community and the community has come through but we still need your help. Miracle still has a long way to go but we feel strongly with all your prayers and support she will pull through. She is a surviver, a MIRACLE...But miracles just don't happen. We have to help make them happen. The concerned neighbor, the brave police officer, the rescue group with open arms, the hospital, the tear foundation and you. Bless you all for all your generous support, your comforting words, and your prayers.

It is so sad that we live in a world where humans can be so evil. How something like this could happen, how a human being could torture and kill a defenseless animal. They were so innocent. They did nothing wrong they couldn't even defend themselves. We as the people have to speak for the animals. They have no voice only ours.

Almost Home is a "REAL" NO- KILL Shelter . It's a place where animals need not be frightened, a place to "feel safe" and "be safe". A place where animals are never discriminated whether they are young or old, sick or healthy, maimed or beautiful it doesn't matter to us. Please help our animals in any way that you can.
