As always, we are in dire need of monetary donations. We can really use your help. We receive no money from governmental funds in any way. All donations, either monetary or material, are TAX DEDUCTIBLE! The more money we raise through donations, the more lives we can save. It's as simple as that. Please help our animals find their way with a donation today.

Almost Home Animal Rescue League consists of just a few full time volunteers.
(Dedicating 50 hours + per week without any pay), a six member volunteer board and a handful of part- time volunteers.
We are a non-Profit NO Kill organization that does not believe in the senseless act of euthanasia. When an animal comes to us we do everything possible to save his/her life whether the animal is old or young. If the animal is very sick we take care of their medical needs sometimes costing us as much as $3,000 to save the animals life.
If the animal has a temperament problem we work with them, sometimes keeping them for years until they are ready to go to their forever home. Our adoption fee/donation partially acknowledges what we at Almost Home do and what we stand for; the care, expense and concern we invest in each animal. There is no other organization in Michigan of which we are aware that truly does what we do.
As examples of the time and expense put into an animal, even one without acute medical or temperament problems, consider the following: Most of our Animals are saved from horrendous situations such as
euthanasia (the needle in Michigan or the gas chamber in Ohio), animal testing (a life of torture) and other unpleasant fates; we have to pay an adoption fee for the privilege of rescuing these unfortunate animals.
We take them to our veterinarian for an examination and pay for all their shots; we have them tested for heartworm; we have them put on heartworm preventative; we have them wormed; we have them spayed/neutered; we pay for their room and board at a kennel; we supply them with all their treat, toys and chews; we are continuously buying necessary crates, carriers, supplies, medicine, collars, leashes, tags, and incurring auto and office expenses.
Every day we are doing something to save, help and find loving forever homes for our animals; every moment of our lives…
If you truly want a rescue animal for the right reasons we are happy to talk with you.
Please keep in mind that many rescue animals may have minor medical problems not uncommon for animals that have been kept in a kennel environment; i.e. kennel cough, fleas, mange mites (caused by stress) minor ear infections, minor eye infections, ear mites, separation anxiety, etc. These are all minor and easily treatable. Should you take on the rewarding responsibility of adopting a rescue animal it will be your role to see to these minor maladies. You must take your adopted pet to your veterinarian 3 to 5 days after adoption in order to take care of any existing medical needs.
Adoption fees/donation vary from $200-$275 and may be, in part, tax deductible.
Any additional donation is totally tax deductible and would go to defray expenses and help us meet our goals of acquiring our own facility to house the animals and a suitable van to transport the animals.
Why a rescue animal? For the sake of the animal and for the joy he will bring to you. In addition a pet from a breeder or a pet store might cost $500 to $2000.
Further your veterinarian would charge you from $350 to $450 to accomplish all what we would do for a rescue animal.
Of those of you who already understand what goes into rescue work we thank you for your compassion and support. For those of you who have taken the time to read this message and who now understand we thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Almost Home Animal Rescue League
